Based in Lyon, I like to define myself as a traveler and an observer of the world—one who always places people at the very center.

For me, the magic of photography - with its unlikely encounters and the serendipity of situations - is an endless source of motivation.

There is a singular power to the photographic moment: that split second when a kind of guillotine falls upon time. With its dizzying ability to capture the ephemeral, it slices through the ceaseless flow of reality to extract a tiny sliver - a fragment of time rescued from oblivion and presented to the eye. At a time when AI-generated images and the proliferation of fake news are challenging our relationship with reality, this function of photography takes on a special significance. It engages us as photographers, perhaps even bestowing upon us a mission of "higher" purpose: to bear witness, to document, to engage with reality - and sometimes to transcend it - without ever betraying it.

Then there is the ever-renewing challenge of a photographic assignment—often starting with a subject that seems unglamorous at first, yet demands something different and original. And the icing on the cake? Returning with that one standout shot - a "plate," as it were - which brings inexhaustible satisfaction.

Finally, there is the "blank contact sheet" syndrome - that virgin space destined to reveal a narrative. You try to stay the course, yet the story may veer off track, swayed by chance events, encounters, or a shifting perception that cracks open and forces you to rethink your initial interpretation. To me, this is a source of constant enrichment. That tension between intention and the unexpected, between control and surrender, constitutes - in my view - an essential part of the richness of the photographic process. In the particularly demanding and selective field of photography - set within an ultra-competitive ecosystem and a hyper-connected society saturated with images, where we have all become producers, distributors, and consumers of photographs - few make the cut. So, one must try, dare, and take risks - be they artistic, personal, or financial.

During a second trip to Cuba in 2026, while attempting to document the dire situation facing the Cuban people, I was arrested, detained, and interrogated for nine hours before being forcibly expelled-literally removed by physical force. I believe I owe my rescue solely to the intervention of the French Foreign Ministry, whom I managed to alert before my phone was confiscated at the start of the interrogation.

I am deeply grateful to them.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I invite you to discover the many beautiful series created by this collective-one I am fortunate enough to have joined.
