Located on the west of the Mekong Delta, on the eastern coast of the Gulf of Thailand, southwest of Ho Chi Minh City, Rach Gia, and the Kien Giang Province, of which it is the capital city, are witnessing an increasing prosperity. This coastal area is quickly being transformed into a big seaside resort seeking to compete with the ones in Southern Thailand.  Construction sites after construction sites, the signs of development are everywhere. All along the seaboard, thousands of trees are cut down to make room for spectacular waterfronts and businesses. And dance clubs, karaokes, restaurants and hotel complexes are sprouting from nowhere.
