Antenna trees
The idea behind this project grew out of the fact that a mobile phone relay antenna has been built about 20m from my apartment window. Although I am more than concerned about this infringement on my surroundings, I couldn?t quite find the necessary impetus to join in the local protests; making banners, signing petitions, meeting MPs etc. The phone company played deaf. I was however strongly motivated to produce a series of photographs on this new form of pollution, microwave transmission. When I found out about relay antennas disguised as trees I found the energy to fight. The physical relationship to my subject was obvious from the first photographs I took. I found myself following in the footsteps of Don Quichotte, playing a fantasy figure ready to fight and I wanted to follow his madness and bravery, navigating between something imaginary and a statement of protest.
