In Beirut, the Karantina district is licking its wounds.
In Beirut, while an economic crisis is weakening the population, the Karantina district is still licking the wounds of the serious explosion of 4 August 2020. This residential and semi-industrial area, which is marginalized from the capital and contiguous to the port, is inhabited by a poor population, many of whom are refugees. While the stigma of the explosion is still very visible in the concrete and in people's minds, Marie's kitchen, whose initiative comes from Father Hani and the work of Orient, distributes free meals to its inhabitants. A place of exchange and encounter, far from the religious communitarianism that violently marked this neighbourhood during the civil war, this space reconciles and develops links.
