En marge du gros rassemblement déjà sous contrôle vers 14h30, sous un beau soleil, une foule bigarrée, jeunes et vieux, restait derrière les barrages bleus pour observer la situation, tandis que le cortège était repoussé par les forces de l'ordre vers la Médiathèque. De nouveaux sympathisants, parfois déguisés, arrivaient créant potentiellement un nouveau rassemblement, ce qui obligeait la police à se réorganiser sans cesse et déplacer ses barrages, à pieds, en voitures toutes sirènes dehors.
Une belle connivence citoyenne, armée de quelques "siamo anti fascisti" à l'adresse des policiers et quelques déguisements bon enfant, a diffusé une bonne ambiance en ce début d'après-midi avant que des tensions n'éclatent ailleurs.

On the fringes of the large gathering – which was already under control by around 2.30 pm, in glorious sunshine – a motley crowd of young and old remained behind the blue police barriers to watch the situation unfold, whilst the procession was pushed back by the police towards the main library. New supporters, some in fancy dress, were arriving, potentially creating a new gathering, which forced the police to constantly reorganise and move their cordons, on foot and in cars with sirens blaring.A wonderful display of civic solidarity – fuelled by a few shouts of “siamo anti fascisti” directed at the police and some good-natured fancy dress – created a positive atmosphere in the early afternoon before tensions flared up elsewhere.
