Phil Le Gal est photographe documentaire originaire de Bretagne. Son travail explore la notion de destin et les réalités associées aux frontières. Il est fasciné par les conséquences de la géographie ainsi que de la mondialisation. 

Il travaille sur des projets à long termes et a documenté certains aspects de vie quotidienne en Chine, République populaire démocratique de Corée (Corée du Nord), les anciennes républiques soviétiques, le Nigeria, le Royaume Uni et la France.

Phil Le Gal a étudié la photographie à l'école d'Arts de Central Saint Martins avant d'obtenir un Masters en Photojournalisme et Photographie Documentaire de l'Université des Arts de Londres au London College of Communication en 2014.

Le travail de Phil Le Gal a été exposé au Royaume Uni, Japon, Belgique et en France et publié dans des magazines et journaux nationaux, en presse papier ou en ligne. Il vit et travaille à Londres et est souvent en déplacement à l'étranger.

Phil Le Gal est membre du studio hans lucas depuis 2015. Il est également le co-fondeur de la plate forme PhotoScratch dédiée à la promotion de nouvelles écritures documentaires.



Phil Le Gal is a documentary photographer from Brittany, Western France. His body of work explores the notion of fate and the realities of borders one is born within. He is fascinated by the consequences of geography and the ones of globalization.

In previous years he worked on long-term projects and documented aspects of life in China, The Democratic People?s Republic of Korea (North Korea), former Soviet countries, Nigeria, UK and France.

In 2012 Phil Le Gal founded The New Continent, a slow journalism long term project and platform with the aim to document the stories of people living within or outside Europe'ss Schengen borders. The New Continent work has been published in international media to illustrate the 2015 European refugee crisis.

He studied photography at Central St Martin's before completing a Masters degree in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography, with Merits, at the University of the Arts, London College of Communications in 2014.

Phil Le Gal's photographs have been exhibited in the UK, France and Belgium, His work has also been published in national online and printed magazines. He currently lives and works in London and is frequently on the move. Phil Le Gal is a member of the platform of diffusion Hans Lucas since 2015. He is also the co-Founder of Photo Scratch, exchange and networking platform dedicated to showing new work of documentary photography.
